Greetings to the Consumer Public.

My name is Charlotte Clark-Frieson. I am the site-owner and webmaster of The African American Funeral Director. I am here strictly for the purpose of funeral home advocacy. And I invite you to partake of whatever information you find useful on this site, and to feel free to join in any on-going discussions that you find applicable to you or your individual interests.

This site pays much-deserved respect to a unique group of American entrepreneurs, namely the African American Funeral Director.

I am are extremely pleased that you found this site, and hope you will browse the site, and think highly enough of it to join and become a member.

I have been a licensed funeral director for 30 years, and a licensed embalmer for 17 of those 30 years. From an early age, I learned to respect this unique group of professions just by watching my father and the enormous sacrifices he often made to be in a position to serve his community.

I was raised in the funeral home industry, being the daughter of one of America's greatest funeral directors, my father. We live in a small rural community in Alabama, where we operate the company he founded 41 years ago. He passed away in 1989, and our company has now passed to the third generation of funeral directors in our family.

In addition to my career as a professional mortician, I am also a retired educator, writer and publisher. I have published a weekly newspaper for African American consumers, and have also published numerous articles throughout the internet.

Now that my former responsibilities in the funeral home business have been passed on to my son and daughter, I have envisioned my future role as that of a supportive advocate for the African American Funeral Director, a journey which I am beginning with the inauguration of this site.

On this website, I hope to discuss many of the issues regarding African American Funeral Directors, and our need to preserve the integrity of our profession as well as our businesses, issues that contribute to the endangerment of our businesses.

I want to provide an "inside perspective" on the challenges we face, and perhaps explore ways to meet those challenges in a manner that will preserve our legacy in the years to come. I invite you to share that journey with me.

If you have questions or concerns or mis-understandings about the everyday practice of funeral service as relates to African American Funeral Directors and Funeral Homes, I invite you to visit this site often, and be a part of my discussion forum.

If you are a licensed funeral director, I also invite you to add a link to your website, and send in any interesting information you want others to know about. Simply send me an email, and I will post the information as soon as I update the website.
